HASSELBLAD CAMERA
The founder of Hasselblad Camera is VICTOR HASSELBLAD. He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1906
HISTORY
HK-7 was the kick starter
when the victor needed to open his company’s first production space under the
name Rose AB.
Later it was named as Hasselblad.
When victor was 34 years old he got a reputation as a camera expert. He
also published many articles on photography and technical issues.
In 1940, Swedish Air Force struggled to equip good aerial tools. Then
intact the German aerial surveillance camera was recovered in Swedish soil and
that was inspiration for HK-7.

In Between
1941 and 1943, totally 240 HK-7 units were produced. In HK-7, 31x26x17.6cm
measuring and 4.8 kilograms weighing with 13.5cm(135mm) lens attached. The
camera has a basic set of shutter speeds from 1/150 of a second to 1/1400 of a
second with the shutter which is placed behind the lens.
The camera
used 80mm film and produced 7x9cm image. The mechanics and precise of the
camera was improved for the aerial photographs could be captured with a good
reliability and accuracy.
In 1941, Victor received
another order from the Air Force for a new camera, it should have a larger
negative format and a fixed mounting in the aircraft.
Hasselblad delivered 342
cameras in the year between 1941 to 1945.
Hasselblad camera was used to
capture first man’s step on the Moon.
In 1962, Hasselblad and NASA
started working together during the Mercury Programme, seven years previous to
the Apollo 11, to ensure that cameras wouldn’t overheat or freeze in the
intense cold temperature.
Recently
OnePlus has signed a three year
partnership with Hasselblad who was the iconic Swedish camera maker. This will
improve the camera experiences on One Plus for the next generation smartphones.
